Meet Our Founder, Daniela Feldhausen

Daniela Feldhausen founded Kids Up Reading Tutors after a career as a UC Berkeley-trained corporate attorney. She brings the same analytical approach to literacy that she once brought to law: find the root cause, build a clear plan and track what actually works.

Daniela and her team pinpoint each student's skill gaps, teach them explicitly and measure progress, so kids and teens can reach their full potential in months, not years. Daniela still tutors a few students personally.

Our Families

Kids Up Reading Tutors works with families and students in grades 1-12 across the U.S. and abroad, providing reading, dyslexia, spelling, and dysgraphia support for students in public, private, religious, international, and homeschool settings. Students do not need to have a formal diagnosis of dyslexia, dysgraphia or a specific learning disability in reading and writing in order to begin tutoring.

Many families find us through referrals from friends, classmates, educational psychologists, and school learning specialists.

Is your child gifted and dyslexic? We support many twice-exceptional (2e) students - gifted learners with dyslexia - helping them build reading skills at a pace that keeps them challenged and engaged.

Do you speak more than one language at home? We have extensive experience supporting bilingual and multilingual students, and understand how English reading development interacts with other languages.

Have an IEP or 504 plan? We're happy to coordinate with your school team and existing intervention plans.

Areas We Serve

We offer live, 1-on-1 personalized reading and dyslexia (plus spelling and dysgraphia) tutoring in Tucson, AZ and Washington, D.C. and online across the U.S. and abroad, including families in Boston, Chicago, Connecticut, Los Angeles, Maryland, Miami, New Jersey, New York, San Diego, Seattle, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
