Kids Up Reading Tutors will check your child's phonological and phonics skills up front, to see what skills they already have and which they still need to learn. How many sessions/week students do generally depends on the results of the screeners. Most families choose 3 or 4 sessions per week to help their student get caught up to grade level as quickly as possible.

If your child is only missing a handful of skills, doing sessions twice a week can work well. Over the summer, many families choose to do tutoring 5 times/week, to get their student reading well by the start of the new school year.

Yes! About half of Kids Up Reading Tutors' students don't have a dyslexia diagnosis. Many of them just didn't get as much good reading instruction as they needed, e.g. as a result of COVID.

All struggling readers and spellers need systematic, explicit instruction in phonological skills, phonics, morphology, fluency and spelling. Kids with dyslexia often need more of that good instruction, with more repetition.

At Kids Up Reading Tutors, parents can look at their child's Progress Chart at any time to see what skills they've learned. In addition, parents receive weekly updates from their tutor.

Absolutely! At Kids Up Reading Tutors, we work with elementary, middle and high school students. We firmly believe that NOW is a great time to become a fluent reader, whether you're in first, second or third grade; middle school; a junior or senior in high school; or anywhere in between. We also work with a handful of college students.

Absolutely! Many of the students at Kids Up Reading Tutors have ADHD. The 1-on-1 attention from the tutor they've built a relationship with helps kids with ADHD focus. Plus, they’re free to stand or wiggle, and our tutors are adept at quickly changing activities to help students stay engaged.
