At Kids Up Reading Tutors, we use multisensory Orton-Gillingham tutoring combined with phonological awareness and fluency training to help students become fluent readers, good spellers and confident students.
We use a clear, structured curriculum that builds skills step-by-step, starting with short vowel sounds and continuing through digraphs, blends, vowel teams, multisyllabic words, spelling rules and more. Parents get weekly updates, so you always know how your child is progressing.

Strong readers understand that words are made up of individual sounds — and know how to use those sounds to read unfamiliar words with confidence.
Many students who struggle with reading rely on memorizing words or guessing from context instead of decoding. As texts become more complex, those strategies stop working.
At Kids Up Reading Tutors, we teach students to decode - not memorize.
To build strong phonological awareness, we use engaging, structured “word games” that help students practice hearing, identifying, and manipulating sounds in words — a critical foundation for fluent reading.
We then combine these skills with explicit phonics instruction, spelling rules, and fluency practice using a structured, Orton-Gillingham–based approach. We introduce new phonics patterns one at a time, practice them using tools like our blending board and then spell and read words, sentences, and texts with those phonics patterns.
We use decodable texts (with limited phonics patterns) with our early readers. By only asking students to read words they truly have the skills to read, we stop the guessing and help them develop accuracy, confidence, and independence in reading.
